Summer & winter in the Dolomites of South Tyrol: active holidays

Adventure. As far as the eye can see.

Spring, summer, autumn or winter? Opinions differ when it comes to deciding which is the most beautiful season for an active holiday in Val Pusteria. Rightly so, in our view, as the breathtaking Dolomite backdrop surrounding our Hirschenhof offers countless experiences all year round …

Spring awakening in the Dolomites

You surely know the feeling: your legs start to tingle and you can hardly wait to set off on your first walks and hikes. When spring arrives in Dobbiaco, bringing with it a hefty dose of springtime joy, it’s time at the Hirschenhof to awaken the bikes and hiking boots from their winter slumber, with gentle valley walks and bike tours in Val Pusteria becoming a daily pleasure. Where to go next? Naturally, wherever the sun leads!

Summer, sun, and marvellous mountains…

A treasure trove of outdoor adventures awaits you during your summer holiday in Dobbiaco: hiking, climbing and mountain biking in the Dolomite summer means filling your lungs with crisp mountain air by day and falling into bed with tired legs and a full heart at night. Our absolute favourite tour? The hike to the Steinbergalm in Dobbiaco – complete with a stunning view of the Tre Cime!

… and for those seeking happiness on two wheels, Val Pusteria is a true cyclist’s haven. Numerous cycle paths and mountain bike trails of varying difficulty levels are waiting to be explored.

Ready for nature’s grand finale?

”Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower,” wrote French author Albert Camus, and we believe there’s no better way to describe the stunning autumn season in South Tyrol. Colour is the theme of the season, as the leaves and needles of the trees don their golden evening attire and invite you to the great autumn ball. Pleasant temperatures and stable weather make this the ideal time for impressive views and unforgettable outdoor days.

Oh, what a wonderful winter world!

Winter in South Tyrol is just brilliant: the finest powder snow, crisp mountain air and plenty of action winter holidaymakers here. While some enjoy perfectly groomed slopes in the ski areas of Tre Cime Dolomiti, Cortina and Plan de Corones others glide across the picturesque cross-country trails of the Dolomiti NordicSki region and the Nordic Arena Dobbiaco, where the World Cup elite compete in cross-country events. Those who prefer to explore on foot can grab winter or snowshoes and hike to the cosy alpine huts nearby. And for the descent, the toboggan is ready.

Did you know? The nearest bus stop is just 100 m from our farm – ideal for anyone wanting to reach the ski areas, local attractions and highlights without a car! Thanks to the free South Tyrol Guest Pass, travelling around the region by bus and train is easy and convenient.
